A Bit About Me

I like languages, new places, strategy games, technology, science, and books about brains. I've been fortunate to be able to pursue a lot of these interests, formally or otherwise. Eventually I acted on the long-held conviction that computer science is the skillset that suits me best, and will allow me to continue to explore my many interests.

What I've Been Up To

I recently graduated from the Master's Program in Computer Science at University of Chicago. I've since returned to the Pacific Northwest where I am looking for a welcoming team to join and continuing to develop and support my iOS side project 'Next Up - A Podcast Alarm'.

Mind Reader

I love reading about brains. They're my favorite mystery, and have so much room left for discovery.

I like the theory, the science, the case studies. I think everything about consciousness and intelligence is endlessly fascinating. I'm particularly interested in theories and models of intelligence, biological and otherwise.

Disaster Junkie

I had the opportunity to spend some time working in disaster response. It was challenging and complicated, but the experiences bound together many of the people who shared them.

I'm not sure I really qualify, but some of the ones who spent the most time traveling from one disaster to next are occassionally referred to as disaster junkies. Whether it's meant as a compliment or not is unclear.

Faux-tographer

Like anyone else who ever picked up a camera, I sometimes like pretend I know how to take good photos. Mostly I like the excuse to walk or hike or visit interesting places. It's also a nice chance to practice a little creativity.

Having no aspirations whatsoever of pursuing it in any serious way makes it that much more relaxing.

Projects

A few of the projects I've worked on, assigned and otherwise.

Experience

Some of the jobs that I've had and the things that I did there.

Education

Where and why and what I've learned.

Photos

Mostly shot at zoos, aquariums, conservatories, beaches, forests, and the like.
